Childrens Book Week Costumes

Children’s Book Week is an annual celebration of reading for pleasure for children of primary school age that has been running for the past 80 years, taking place on 1-7 October. During Children’s Book Week, schools, libraries and other venues all over the UK hold events and activities aimed at encouraging children to enjoy reading for pleasure.

This years theme is Heroes and Heroines. Who's YOUR hero?

Is it a fictional super hero such as Spider man?

is it a character based on real life such as Biggles?

Is it a animal from a film such as Lassie, Skippy or a Dalmatian

or is it a person who has saved the day?

Theatrical Threads have a wide range of costumes to suit all characters and budgets for this years Book Week events

The Further Tale of Peter Rabbit

110 years after the publication of Beatrix Potter's original Peter Rabbit tale, a brand new book starring one of the world's most famous rabbits is being released in September 2012

Written by actress Emma Thompson, Peter Rabbit's new adventure sees him squeezing under the gate into Mr. McGregor's garden and being carted away from his beloved Lake District to the Scottish lowlands. This plucky little rabbit soon finds himself in the middle of a great big, brand new adventure and has the best of fun!

If you grew up with Beatrix Potter's books, we're sure this tale will entertain you just as much as it will your children and grandchildren.

With Children's Book Week approaching from 1st to 7th October, why not take the opportunity to bring a classic book character back to life. For a small child, simply add a blue coat to our brown rabbit or hare costume for Peter, or a brown coat for Benjamin Bunny. For something more fun for an older child why not add a kilt to become Peter's Scottish cousin, Finlay McBurney! the champion turnip thrower !!!
